CONCEALER CONCEALER CONCEALER

There's nothing like concealer to dramatically transform your skin, according to makeup expert Bobbi Brown. Concealer can cover up under-eye circles and those annoying blue veins that pop up under the eyes when tired. It also works like an erase on red spots, seemingly wiping them off your face.
So how to pick the right shade? I've done the research and here are your answers.

Go a Shade or 2 Lighter Than Your Skin
You want your foundation to match your skin tone perfectly. You want your concealer to be just a shade or 2 lighter than your skin, according to Brown in her book, Living Beauty. The exception is when you are covering pimples. It's best to use a concealer that matches your skin exactly when it comes to covering pimples. This is because you want to apply the concealer AFTER the foundation and you don't want that spot to stand out.
Most women need a yellow-based, not pink-based concealer, because it flatters all skin types. The exception is dark or black skin, which will look better in orange-based concealers

Types of concealer and what they are used for

Most women use concealer to lighten the areas under the eyes. Others use concealer to cover up pimples, acne scars, tattoos and even spider veins. Concealers are not a one-size fits all formula. Different concealers work on different problem areas. Here's a rundown:
  • Under-eye concealer is best for camouflaging the circles under the eyes. This concealer won't work on redness or blemishes.
  • Correctors work to cover up extremely dark under-eye circles. Peach tones and pink tones work best to counteract the dark colors.
  • Yellow-toned concealer that matches your skin tone exactly is best for covering up blemishes, tattoos, etc.
  • Body concealer is great for covering up veins on the legs.
  • Heavy duty concealer works to cover up tattoos and bad scars. Look for a concealer especially formulated for such coverage like Cover-mark.

How to test your concealer

Concealer is a definite "try before you buy" product. I don't recommend purchasing any product that's non-returnable. Start by testing color on the area of your neck below your ear. Again, the color should be a slight lighter than your foundation. If you go too light, you risk looking like a raccoon. Just like you'll do with a lot of foundation, you may need a lighter concealer shade in winter than you would in summer.
If you are covering up blue veins or under-eye circles, test the consistency of a concealer by dabbing it on the blue veins on the inside of your wrist. If it covers it up, you've found a winner.

For those of you who love concealer and foundation this tip is for yu.......

You know those women who wear so much foundation it looks like they have to remove it every night with a trawl?
That, dear readers, is a fine example of "cake face," wherein one slathers on too much foundation and concealer, the result being a pancake, mask-like makeup. If you have makeup covering every millimeter of your face, it's simply too much and the first thing people are going to think when they see you is, "She wears a lot of makeup." Why not play up, rather than cover up, your natural beauty?
The following are my best "how to avoid cake face" tips.
How to Wear Foundation & Concealer

this takes me back to when i was a novice abt makeup i used to use a lot of foundation, until i tried it one day and i had a dinner that night bt it was a disaster bcos my face was all white and caked and since that day i made a promise to learn how to apply my foundation and concealer. What I wish I knew then was that foundation is meant to cover up only your uneven spots like the cheeks, around the nose and maybe the chin. Once the foundation is in place, you can then dot concealer on any ruddy or pimply spots the foundation doesn't cover.
Remember, with foundation, apply only on the spots that need it

BLUSH, BLUSH, BLUSH

So most people dont knw how to apply their blush bt i hope this helps..........
Ahhhh blush. Many women avoid blush but it can be your beauty secret weapon. For healthy, natural color, nothing beats blush. However, blush tends to be overused as well. To avoid looking like a clown, try these steps to choosing blush and applying it.
Here's how:
  1. First choose the color using nature as your guide. According to InStyle, the trick is to find a color that matches your cheeks when they're flushed after exercise or being out in the cold. For a quick test, "spank" your cheeks and use the resulting color as a guide. Another trick is to match your lip color. Fair skin looks great in rose, olive in peach & dark skin in apricot or even red.
  2. Now that you have the color, choose the right formula for your skin type. Powder is typically best for oily and combo skin. Cream is great for dry skin. Liquid and gel are great for oily skin. For even better results, combine cream and powder together. Keep in mind stains -- great for well-moisturized skin, not dry skin -- tend to dry very fast so blend well and fast.
  3. Apply foundation, eye color &and lipstick. While blush is usually your second-to-last makeup step (before powder), you should experiment with what works best for you. I like to apply my blush second to last or last.
  4. When applying ur blush use a different brush other than ur powder brush, its nt advisable to use the same brush.
  5. Put the blush on your brush, tapping off any excess or put a dab of gel on your fingers.
  6. Look into the mirror and smile. This helps you figure out where the "apple" of your cheek is.
  7. Since you want a healthy flush, it's best to apply blush only to apples of your cheeks. Keep color light and blended. If you're using gel or cream, i suggest dabbing it on with your middle finger, then blend with your ring and middle finger. The clean finger will pick up any excess blush.
  8. If you've gone a bit too heavy on the powder blush, a bit of translucent powder over it will calm it down. For cream blush, blot the color off with a tissue.
  9. Finish your look with a sweep of translucent powder.

Winged eyeliner

so i decided to share the tips about getting the perfect winged liner............... It just takes a lot of practice and identifying the point of your eyes, end of your brows and the arch of your brows. Also try not to tug  on your eyes because that will cause crouch's feet at the corners of your eyes as you age. Start off by lining up the end of your brows as a reference to where your outer liner should extend. Then use the arch of your brows as an indicator to where your wing should meet with the rest of the liner. Its almost like creating a triangle for the wing. After, just fill it and even it out. But remember to open your eyes while doing your winged liner because if u close your eyes u might smear the liner........

Brightening your eyes..................

Find an eyeliner and mascara that will bring out the color of your eyes. Don't overwhelm your eyes with too much black it will darken your eyes and make them look smaller. Use a white or rose gold pencil liner for the inner corner's of your eyes and for your waterline to make your eyes appear bigger and make you seem more awake. Don't forget mascara, mascara. Mascara will make a huge difference in making your eyes seem bigger and brighter.......
